Currently we have the following dogs
to give away
so that the premises can take new ones from the sea turtle nesting beaches.

Zoubou

Zubu is a beautiful Griffon mix with a tender heart, still learning to trust the world around her. Life hasn’t always been kind to her, she was once a wild stray roaming along the sea turtle nesting beaches, where she had to be removed before starting to dig and destroy the protected nests.

Since then, she’s been on a journey of learning what safety and kindness feel like.

She is cautious and shy at first, needing time, patience, and gentle understanding before she dares to approach someone new. But once you’ve earned her trust, Zubu blossoms into a loyal and affectionate companion who gives her whole heart.

Like many Griffons, she’s intelligent, quick to learn, and eager to please. She enjoys mental stimulation and thrives under consistent, loving guidance. Zubu is very people-oriented and shows a strong willingness to interact and learn.

She isn’t comfortable around cats and should not live with them. Because she’s sensitive to sudden movements and loud noises, a calm, quiet home without small children would be ideal for her.

Behind her timid exterior lies a gentle and loving soul longing for kindness. With patience, stability, and love, Zubu will reward her person with unwavering loyalty and the most devoted friendship one could ever wish for.

Bako

Bako is likely a tricolored American Foxhound, around one year old. He was abandoned by hunters who deemed him unsuitable as a hunting dog. Tragically, he was tied up and left to fend for himself. Bako managed to free himself from the rope, which was still hanging around his neck when he appeared at the premises of ANTA House. Drawn by the pack of free dogs from ANTAs project “Saving Sea Turtles from Dogs”, he sought refuge there.

Bako is extremely fearful of people, and it took months to tame him. Fear, hesistation and trembeling are still very prevelent in his behavior, resulting in him often not eating his meal, because something scares him away.

Bako has an extraordinarily sensitive soul. He is a beautiful, gentle dog who yearns for affection and a sense of belonging. Bako is obedient and loyal but finds it challenging to adapt to changes, like a new sleeping or eating area. However, he socializes well with other dogs and even cats, showing his ability to form bonds despite his past hardships.

Bella

Bella is a purebred white belgian shepherd, 8 years old. Her story is sad: while she was tied up with a leash, she had to watch other dogs roaming freely around her, getting attention and love. When she was first taken in by ANTA Project, she suffered from stiffness that had resulted from the immobilization of being tied up, and she was limping. Now she’s once again healthy and well integrated with the other dogs of the project. She is a very sweet-natured dog, very good with adults and children, and also very friendly towards cats. She loves cuddles and as soon as you give her your attention, she is devoted to you.

He is friendly and gets along equally well with adults, children and cats. He is quiet and polite, yet his presence is always felt. A kind soul, he is a deeply loyal and sensitive dog. He loves getting around – he is a fierce runner himself, but also enjoys very much to see the world from the rear window of a car.

Princess Rita found her place in Thomas and Manuelas Palace. Succesfully rehomed she found what she needed: to be the one who gets all the attention, to be with her carers 24 hours a day, have garden and walks, but also important for Rita , no cats!!!! She was picked up by Thomas personnaly and driven to Germany,  yes like a princess!!! Rita is a young, intelligent, friendly, eager to learn dog. Her behavior and looks indicate that she might be a mixture between Romanian shepherd dog and Pitbull. While she’s a strong-willed dog, she is also happy to cuddle and delightfully playful. Whoever decides to give Rita a home will find himself with a companion able to adjust and learn.

Ververitsa

Ververitsa is a small-size dog that must have had a horrid upbringing. When she was picked up from her stray life, she was scared, very afraid to be touched, trembled and refused to pass doorways. She must have gotten many beatings, rendering her handicapped. She’s since come a long way and has overcome many a fear. She’s devoted and loves swimming in the sea. The perfect puppy-sitter, playful and kind with all the members of the pack. Cats she chooses to be polite with and little children can do almost everything with her. Highly intelligent with focused attention; one could teach her many things. Ververitsa is a case for someone who is willing to take care of a handicapped animal as she loses her scat when she is lying down.

In summer 2025, ANTA Bio Olive Oil continues to support measures to protect the sea turtle (Carreta carreta) in the Zakynthos Marine National Park.

Read more about this program and how you can get involved in these activities, either through alternative tourism or as a volunteer.

This year, ANTA Bio Olive Oil is once again carrying out a project in the Zakynthos Marine National Park. In 2025, we continue to address the issue between dogs and sea turtles. In recent years, there have been cases of dogs causing harm on turtle beaches. With our project over the past seven years, we have managed to significantly reduce the problem. And so, we continue.

This summer, we regularly visit the beaches, observe stray dogs, sterilize them, and find a new home for them.

Volunteers participating in the project are expected to be engaged with the project for six hours daily. Out of these six hours, approximately two hours will be dedicated to cooking and cleaning the common areas. The remaining four hours can be self-managed by each volunteer, in consultation with the project leader. So, one can freely decide how they want to be involved in the project. Options include visiting the turtle beaches in the mornings to save hatchlings, documenting disturbances in the park, especially dogs, taking photos, posting on Facebook, managing documented data, feeding and walking dogs, and caring for the operated dogs (sterilization). There are many other tasks to do; one just needs to take the initiative. The project leader will also provide assistance.

Volunteers can take one day off per week. If meals are provided in the house, the aforementioned two hours of household activities still need to be observed.

The project team will be kept small, between 2 and 15 people. The volunteers’ time is not strictly scheduled. Overall, the project is flexible. One great aspect of spending holidays with the ANTA project is that it allows you to experience Greece from the perspective of a resident rather than an ordinary tourist. After this stay, you will be enriched with experience about what to consider if you want to live sustainably and naturally.
